As joint ventures and other bespoke partnerships reshape global aviation, alliances must prove they still matter.

Oneworld has turned to a longtime alliance insider as it looks to sharpen its commercial strategy and deepen cooperation between member airlines.

Ole Orvér, most recently chief commercial officer at Finnair, will become chief executive on April 1. He replaces Nat Pieper, who joined American Airlines last November.
