Lufthansa's new campaign stirs up interest in its target city, reaches Chicagoans who it doesn't interact with directly, and makes business travelers in other cities envious enough to hope the new service is headed their way. Success, indeed.

Lufthansa Airlines flight attendants are handing out free coffee, umbrellas, and limo rides as part of a new marketing campaign launched this week in Chicago.

The campaign, created by MMGY Global, is promoting the introduction of the Boeing 747 jet on Lufthansa’s Chicago-Frankfurt route. The plane’s most exciting feature, for those that can afford it, are fully-flat Business Class seats.

Lufthansa is sharing the on-the-ground marketing with customers worldwide using Instagram posts (see above), tweets, and YouTube videos that chronicle the flight attendant’s activities each day.

Lufthansa’s website also has a really neat interactive graphic that explains the  features of the new jet.

Located on the second level of the plane, the luxurious Business Class area provides flyers with personal lockers and in-flight entertainment. The plane also features lower fuel consumption and quieter engines, larger economy class windows and wider leg space, and an in-flight entertainment system with a touch screen.
