It is not the best of times for consumer travel magazines, but airline magazines are flying high. Unburdened by the demands of a newsstand that force publications to put either a celebrity or Paris on the cover each month, in-flight mags are free to be creative about their subjects — no-name locals, groundbreaking artists, odd landscapes, illustrations, and black and white photography — and can be assured that most of the people who pull it out of the seat back will flip through at least a few pages.

Skift dug deep into the seats in front of us and pulled out some of our favorite covers from airlines across the globe. If you want to go beyond the cover, click on the magazine name in the captions above for a link to a web or PDF version of each publication.
