India's ancient wellness remedies have evolved from being traditions to becoming major revenue generators, and hotel chains are leaning into this demand.
The Oberoi Group has unveiled Asmi by Oberoi, a wellness offering that brings together ancient Indian practices and modern science. Asmi, derived from the Sanskrit word meaning “I am”, is meant to serve as a lifestyle framework with five pillars: movement, nutrition, bodywork, breath work, and mindfulness.
The program will be introduced across Oberoi Hotels & Resorts properties in India before expanding internationally in 2026.
India’s Wellness Focus: A report by Skift Research earlier this year noted that there is a strong traveler interest in wellness and holistic tourism (including yoga, meditation, Ayurveda, and spa retreats) among inbound tourists to India. It found that 25% of travelers were choosing India over other Asian countries.
