Breeze’s David Neeleman: Why Startup Airlines Can’t Compete With the Big Four

The “big four” U.S. airlines are getting bigger, according to Breeze Airways’ CEO.
The U.S. airline industry is running out of space for startups, according to Breeze Airways CEO David Neeleman.
The ultra-low-cost carrier, which started service in 2021, is among the last new entrants in the U.S., along with Avelo Airlines. Now that major airlines like United, American, Delta, and Southwest have become “so much better at what they do,” Neeleman said there’s little room for new competition.
“You’ve got to be getting something completely different than everybody else,” Neeleman said at Wednesday’s Skift Aviation Forum in Fort Worth, Texas. “Going to the teeth with those guys with the credit card revenue that they have, their international net
