Indian travel players have maximized their own customer base. They now recognize that the next phase of growth comes from quick commerce companies that have a customer base that is willing to spend for convenience.

Air India last week announced a tie up with food delivery company Zomato to widen the reach of its Maharaja Club loyalty program. Users who link their Maharaja Club accounts on the Zomato app can now earn Maharaja Points on every food delivery transaction. The deal also offers a welcome bonus for new members who join and link their accounts, plus a complimentary air ticket voucher for one member every day.

“This partnership is in line with our continuing efforts to strengthen the value proposition of Maharaja Club and our vision of building it into one of the most rewarding loyalty programmes across industries,” said Sunil Suresh, head of marketing, loyalty and e-commerce at Air India.

Competition for IndiGo-Swiggy Tie-Up: This Air India-Zomato partnership follows IndiGo's April announcement of a partnership with another food delivery platform Swiggy. Under that deal, IndiGo’s BluChip loyalty members earn reward points for transactions on Swiggy.
