Marriott’s Latest Vietnam Opening Marks 700th Hotel in the Region

For Marriott, expanding in Vietnam isn’t just about serving demand there, it creates a foundation for moving deeper into mainland Southeast Asia.
Marriott on Monday announced its 700th property in Asia Pacific excluding China (APEC) with the opening of the Legacy Mekong, Can Tho, Autograph Collection in Vietnam. The hotel sits on a private islet on the Hau River in the Mekong Delta. It is the company’s second Autograph Collection hotel in Vietnam, after Vinpearl Landmark 81.
With this milestone Marriott is also signaling that Vietnam is becoming one of its most important markets in Asia.
The company now operates 30 hotels across Vietnam and has more than 50 in the pipeline. Across APEC more broadly, Marriott has 700 operating properties across 27 brands in 22 countries and roughly 400 more under development.
