Skift Take

Meeting and event planners know they need to do a better job tailoring events to their attendees and providing their sponsors with a stronger idea of how successful their partnership has been. New solutions will make it easier for them to make informed decisions moving forward.

Providing a more personalized experience has been a goal for event planners for a while, and new technology tools are emerging that inform smart decisions about programming and marketing.

I spoke to the CEO of Attendify about the ways that personalization can help event attendees have a better experience. It can also help organizations and planners have a better idea of what works and the value they are creating for sponsors and partners. Seems like a win-win for everyone, if done right.

We also have a look at how planners and travel managers are examining ways to work more closely together on corporate events. There are still roadblocks to better integration between the two, especially in big companies, but shared technology stacks have the potential to increase collaboration in the future.

The Future of Event Technology

The Era of Personalization in Event Tech Is Finally Here: Tools are finally emerging that empower event professionals with the insights they need to better understand how attendees operate at events and the value created for sponsors. It’s about time, and these tools will only become more useful as event planners learn more about what makes their gatherings successful.

Travel Managers and Meeting Planners Need to Work Closer Together: Technology can empower meeting planners, but it can also lead to daunting integration problems with other aspects of corporate travel. Riding the fine line between solving problems and creating new ones remains an issue that won’t be solved soon.

Around the Industry

Digital Events Are Super Complicated: While live streaming and digital events are catching on in Europe and Asia, there are still serious political and economic roadblocks to wider adoption.

Esports Will Lead the Charge for Augmented Reality: There’s a big possibility that the growth of esports as an event category will help propel augmented reality programming into the mainstream.

Performers and Event Brands Embrace Companion Apps: Using an app to engage attendees before, during, and after an event is being done in creative ways that don’t detract from the experience during the event itself.

The Importance of Unplugging From Constant Meetings: For those in leadership roles, life often proceeds from one meeting to another. Taking time to process your thoughts and develop new ideas on your own, however, can be vital.
