The offer was described as $90 a share, $9.8 billion including Wyndham debt, but since it is only $49.50 a share in cash and 0.324 shares of CHH stock for each WH share owned, the real value is more or less, depending on CHH stock.

Choice is confident it can sell its offer to Wyndham shareholders without the opinion of Wyndham executives.

Tracing its roots back to its original name, Quality Courts United, Choice has established itself as a prominent player through acquisitions.

This is in essence a hostile takeover, and the acquisition may not go through. But if it does, it will create the largest budget hotel player in North America.
