SITA's solution lets smaller airlines raise their mobile game. But truthfully, there are plenty of big airlines (hello, United) that need help with mobile, too.
Tablets are trendy and we love them, but mobile phones are in consumers' pockets, pocketbooks, hands or just a few feet away, and travelers are using them to dream of their romantic getaway in Tahiti (or Namibia).
It's difficult to see why airlines, hotels, and others would want to replace apps that help them manage relationships with loyal customers with a feed to a platform that doesn't do anything special for them.
If accurate, it's good news for Waze. Especially since the app's appetite for data and battery power has become a turn off for many of the early adopters.
This is a big year for HomeAway: It is retooling its business model, and will attempt to get its mobile products in order. Good thing it has experts to lean on.
