JetBlue aims to use premium lounges to appeal to higher-spending travelers while simultaneously navigating operational turbulence and profitability headwinds.
JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty previewed the airline’s first-ever dedicated airport lounges on Wednesday, a major step in the carrier’s push to attract higher-spending travelers and restore consistent profitability.
"JFK is the first one," Geraghty said on stage at the Skift Aviation Forum in Fort Worth, Texas. "It should be opening in two weeks."
Geraghty shared an exclusive first look at the JFK lounge and the design language appeared to lean into JetBlue’s signature blue-and-white palette, with textured finishes and a more intimate layout than the sprawling clubs offered by larger U.S. carriers.
"Our look here is really trying to find a residential approach to lounges," Geraghty said. The lounge decor and furnishings, which include Art Deco accents, are "inspired by a sort of eclectic New York home."
