Yatra CEO: AI Could ‘Optimize’ Headcount

India’s Yatra Online is the latest travel company to highlight the potential impact of AI on jobs, though it's still unclear how it will play out. Does it mean overall cuts? Making existing workers more productive? A shift in resources to different areas?
On an earnings call Wednesday, CEO Dhruv Shringi said the tech could "optimize" headcount — as many as 200 roles by the end of 2026.
“We are looking at around 75-odd heads being optimized by the end of this fiscal year. And I think this (AI) has the potential to optimize about 200 heads from a headcount point of view, by end of next year,” Shringi said. "We see tremendous amount of value and application on the AI side. We do have a strong team on AI... This team of about 15 data scientists, which are focused on building AI-led applications.
