Virgin America Quietly Unveils New Website and Back Pocket-Sized Boarding Pass
Skift Take
Virgin America has quietly launched a new website in beta that it believes will streamline the booking process and make it more intuitive regardless whether travelers are using mobile or desktop devices.
The new website is live at https://beta.virginamerica.com.
The airline also states that it has redesigned its boarding pass, enabling it to be folded and conveniently placed in a pants' back pocket. [See Vine embedded below.]
In an email circulted to some partners, Virgin America states the beta site is open to the public, and the airline will be informing partners about it over the next few days.
The beta site features plenty of big boxes for selecting cities and dates, and uses colorful avatars for seat selection.
Virgin America says: "We make getting there fun. Why shouldn’t booking be fun too? With playful avatars, a sleek simple design, mood-lit inspired colors and a cheeky sense of humor, we’re the life of the airline industry website party."
The screen where a traveler would complete a booking fills virtually the entire screen for easy viewing.
The entire beta site is much-simpler looking and less cluttered than the current VirginAmerica.com, which is still live.
