Expedia Agrees to Buy Experiences Platform Tiqets to Bolster Its B2B Offering

Expedia's acquisition of Tiqets is the latest indication of the online travel agency's B2B tilt. It's certainly a niche that provides Expedia with an open lane.
Expedia Group announced that it agreed to buy Tiqets, an Amsterdam-headquartered activities and experiences platform, and emphasized its utility for partners as part of Expedia's business-to-business segment.
There was no financial filing about the move Wednesday morning, an indication that the acquisition price would not be material to Expedia's financials.
An industry insider told Skift he'd "bet this was not a good financial outcome for Tiqets," which has raised $134 million in total funding, according to Crunchbase.
The addition of Tiqet's attractions and experiences to Expedia's brands will expand offerings to travelers, but Expedia emphasized the value to partners — including banks, airlines and loyalty programs — as part of its B2B offering.
Expedia wasn't elaborating on the deal beyond the announcement, but pointed for context to a blog post that said: "This acquisition will expand our Activities API offering and give partners
