IndiGo Deepens China Network With China Southern Codeshare Deal

IndiGo is doing what it does best - going all out to be the first to fill a gap. And this time, it is not just driven by ambition but also by the need for more foreign currency in its coffers.

IndiGo has entered into a codeshare partnership and mutual cooperation agreement with China Southern Airlines. The move builds on IndiGo’s momentum of ramping up its share in the India-China travel market after it became the first airline to resume flights between the two countries last month. 

This will allow China Southern Airlines to offer more connectivity to and within India, while those traveling from India to China with IndiGo will be able to connect to cities beyond Guangzhou through China Southern Airlines’ network. 

The development comes a day after IndiGo started daily direct flights between Delhi and Guangzhou – its second operational route to China after Kolkata-Guangzhou. On Sunday, China Eastern Airlines also resumed flights between Shanghai and Delhi.
