Festivals for Indians are no longer about staying at home, but about combining celebrations with exploration. And now, luxury is becoming an active, subconscious part of this journey.

Luxury is shaping up as the buzzword for Indian travelers this festive season. Across the board, travel companies are reporting a clear shift toward premium, immersive, and purposeful trips as Indians look to celebrate festivals with more indulgent experiences.

“This festive season, we are witnessing a remarkable surge in travel intent among Indians, clearly reflected in our bookings and forecasts. What truly stands out is a shift towards more immersive and purposeful travel,” said Ranjit Batra, CEO of hotel developer Ventive Hospitality.

Flipkart-backed online travel company Cleartrip echoed the trend. “In hotels, luxury is no longer an afterthought. The maximum growth was seen in 4- and 5-star hotels, reflecting a strong consumer preference for indulging in a premium, experience-led getaway,” the company noted in its festive insights.
