TikTok is making a serious play for travel brands, as its popularity grows among older users with more disposable cash.
After several months of testing, TikTok on Monday officially introduced Travel Ads, a platform designed to move users from trip inspiration to actually booking flights, hotels, and activities.
The new ads, which TikTok teased at Skift’s Megatrends event in January, will allow travel brands to promote their offerings and target them to people engaging with travel content on the app.
“With travel-specific optimization models, the solution identifies high-intent audiences ready to book and matches them with travel offerings based on their in-market activities and preferences, delivering greater relevance, higher engagement, and stronger campaign performance,” said David Hoctor, TikTok’s head of U.S. Verticals, Travel and Gaming, in a blog post.
Several companies have been testing Travel Ads for months, including Expedia Group, Accor hotels, Meliá Hotels International, Etihad Airways, and Sunweb.
