Cleartrip Bets on New Verticals and Flipkart Muscle to Grow Into a Full Travel Platform

Cleartrip has been a player in the Indian OTA space for nearly two decades. But now, it is pushing fast and hard in an industry where everyone is playing catch up with demand.

Online travel company Cleartrip is gearing up to launch more verticals as it looks to position itself as a “true travel platform,” said Manjari Singhal, the company’s chief growth and business officer.

However, these may not necessarily be new ventures. Singhal told Skift that Cleartrip is working on "multiple lines of business." Cleartrip’s parent company Flipkart is among the country’s biggest e-commerce players. That backing, Singhal argued, gives the company both scale and speed. The company is betting on Flipkart’s massive user base and identifying gaps in rivals’ strategies to carve out space in India’s competitive online travel market.
