The difference between Boeing Co.’s 787 Dreamliner and the Airbus A380 superjumbo? Qatar Airways Ltd. isn’t so sure.
The airline schlepped five of its planes to this year’s Paris Air Show, a record, and made a splash with giant billboards around the show grounds. One of the adverts touted the luxuries of travel on the Boeing 787, which Qatar called “a travel experience like no other.” Trouble is, the poster showed the interior of the Airbus flagship.
The blunder is all the more excruciating because the man behind the airline, Akbar Al Baker, is notorious for his exacting standards. Unless the mix-up was a carefully orchestrated ploy by the stickler executive. As Al Baker said himself on Monday in Paris: there’s no good air show without a spot of controversy.
