The global distribution world has long offered vacation rentals to travel agents but the investments by Amadeus Ventures and former Sabre CFO Jeff Jackson in BookingPal symbolize new and more serious interest.

BookingPal, an Irvine, California-based startup that distributes vacation rentals to online travel agencies and vacation rental sites, picked up an additional $5 million in funding in a Series B round led by Thayer Ventures.

New investors PAR Capital Ventures and Amadeus Ventures, as well as existing investors Camp One Investors and Plug and Play Ventures participated in the round, which brings BookingPal’s total funding to $7.5 million.

The investment in BookingPal seems to be the recently formed Amadeus Ventures’ second publicly announced investment. The first was in Yapta.

BookingPal CEO Alex Aydin says the funding infusion will be used to enhance its cloud-based distribution platform and expand strategic partnerships.

With the new funding, Mark Farrell, managing partner at Thayer Ventures, and former Sabre CFO Jeff Jackson join the BookingPal board.
