The most popular travel videos aren't necessarily about "travel," they simply inspire viewers to explore the world to its fullest.

Dae Mellencamp, the President of Vimeo, spoke earlier this month at the Skift Global Forum.

At Vimeo, Mellencamp is in charge of making a business out of some of the world’s best high-quality user videos. She also manages to drive revenue without pre-roll advertising.

Among other things, she sees opportunities for travel brands to think bigger. “Adventure filmmaking will continue to be huge and we’ll see massive innovation in this area,” Mellencamp said. “I’ve noticed in adventure films, we’ve seen consumer product brands sponsor them, and the filmmaker does that very passionately, but the travel industry doesn’t seem to be embracing this and I think the industry should consider this.”
