India to ease visa rules to attract more tourism and target domestic visitors as well

The new Indian tourism minister is making the right noises, and easing visa rules is a surefire way to boost tourism anywhere.

India is attempting to liberalise visa procedures by adding nine countries to the the list of 11 nations whose citizens are entitled to the document on arrival, former southern Indian movie star Chiranjeevi, who has been given independent charge of tourism as a minister of state, said. In addition, India has launched two new tourism campaigns the international “Find What You Seek” and the domestic “Go Beyond” – the first one for foreign tourists while the second one for domestic tourists.

The minister said he was keen to promote new rural tourism destinations as well.
