We can only hope that airlines will use the force of these optimized designs for the greater good--to upgrade affordably and not to down-grade for cost-cutting. Time will tell.
Paid or free, people want to be able to chose whether to connect. But we're surprised that 42% of passengers surveyed in the U.S. wanted mobile voice. Considering boisterous objections by U.S. travellers to calls onboard, we would have expected this number to be much lower.
Given that the Finns have declared Internet access a basic human right, we have to wonder whether this new Finnair in-flight Wi-Fi will be free. The airline would not comment, but fingers crossed.
