We can only hope that airlines will use the force of these optimized designs for the greater good--to upgrade affordably and not to down-grade for cost-cutting. Time will tell.
Radical change though it may be, the legacy carriers could do worse than learn a few lessons from the type of loyalty Southwest has generated.
We hope there is no way this could all go horribly, horribly wrong.

As a whole, these airline ads are disappointing in that they are over-the-top fantasy or relatively uninspiring. The Delta ad may be inspiring for the little girl watching the journey of her checked bag but she isn't paying for the ticket.
We sure are glad the the FCC gave the go-ahead for passengers to turn on their phones in-flight. No more having to fumble for credit cards with Apple Pay on JetBlue flights. Google Wallet, though, appears to be missing in action.
It costs passengers a bundle to fly this class, but it also costs airlines a fortune to make this class worth flying. These ratings reflect whether all that money is put to good use.
