A pilot strike at easyJet will disrupt flights in France and Portugal

Skift Take

As strikes during the summer in Europe go, this one is pretty tame. What ever happened to a country-wide transit strike that cripples transport in Greece, France, Italy, or Spain?

easyJet has advised its passengers travelling to France and Portugal this week to check their flight status before heading to the airport as industrial action threatens to disrupt flights to and from both countries.

easyJet pilots in France are planning a walk-out over pay on August 15, 17 and 19, whilst ground handling staff at Portugal's Oporto and Faro airports are also threatening action on August 15 and 17.

The airline has said that discussions with the French pilot union, SNPL, were continuing and that, "If an agreement is not sought, operational plans will be drawn up", which will be published on the website.

Despite the threat of industrial action, easyJet hopes that the disruption to flights in France will be minimal, as the strikes should only impact French-based crews and will therefore only affect certain flights. The airline also hopes that any disruption in Portugal will be limited.

The airline recommends that passengers check easyjet.com for any updates.
