New York City Releases New Transit Map for Superbowl Attendees

Skift Take

Super Bowl attendees will need more than this map to navigate the region's far from well-designed transit network. However, this and MTA's Weekender map show a slowly improving design sensibility within the transit agencies.

The Metropolitan Transportation Agency released its first-ever regional transportation map today. The diagram shows all New York and New Jersey transit services including New Jersey Transit, PATH trains, Long Island Railroad, AirTran, and the NYC subway.

The map was released for the 2014 Super Bowl that will be held this February at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The map, which will appear on all transit websites and Super Bowl materials, includes football icons that show where Super Bowl-related events will take place.

The map was designed by Yoshiki Waterhouse of Vignelli Associates, which is the same firm that designed MTA’s interactive Weekender diagram.

NJ Transit is also releasing a limited edition $50 “Super Pass” for Superbowl attendees. The pass gives attendees access to unlimited travel from Monday, January 27 through Monday, February 3 on all NJ TRANSIT rail, bus, light rail and Access Link services throughout New Jersey.
