JetBlue Adds to Caribbean Routes, Now One Third of Its Network
Skift Take
JetBlue Airways is launching non-stop service from JFK to Port of Spain and Trinidad, as well as Savannah, the airline announced on Monday.
The new routes, part of the Caribbean network that now composes one-third of JetBlue's flights, were in demand by New Yorkers with Caribbean ties, JetBlue executives said.
"Our NY Hometown focus includes adding non-stop destinations to places that are important to New Yorkers. Given the success of our current network, Savannah and Port of Spain make perfect sense," said Scott Laurence, vice president of network planning for JetBlue Airways.
Savannah is a frequent departure point for cruises to the Caribbean.
Twice-daily non-stop service between Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport will begin February 13, 2014, and the service to Port of Spain will begin on February 24, 2014.
A second route to Port of Spain, from Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Fla. will begin on May 1, 2014 with one flight a day.
