Australia’s Webjet Launched Something Other OTAs Don’t Have — Multiday Tours

Webjet is going where other online travel agencies have chosen not to tread — online bookable multiday tours. Can Webjet make a meaningful business out of it?
Webjet, the largest Australia-based online travel agency, has launched multiday tours online from G Adventures, Intrepid Travel, Trafalgar, and Insight Vacations.
You won't find those on Expedia, Booking.com, MakeMyTrip, Trip.com, Despegar or any other major OTA. That's because these tour bookings have complex itineraries, and legacy and fragmented technology can make integration with the tour operators difficult. In addition, OTAs typically cite higher priorities, such as lodging and flights.
Following a soft launch in September, Webjet now has a tours tab on its homepage, courtesy of a tech partnership with Calgary-based ReserveX. A brand marketing campaign kicked off in October.
Webjet, for example, now enables a traveler to book a 14-day Trafalgar tour to the U.S. East Coast and Canada.
