Road trips remain incredibly popular in many parts of the world and are a great way to get off the beaten path. RVShare's new CEO, an ex-HomeAway executive, is likely looking to capture more than the sliver of the market it currently has.

>>RVShare, a peer-to-peer and RV dealer rental site for recreational vehicles in the United States, raised a $50 million venture round led by Tritium Partners. This is the Austin, Texas and Akron, Ohio-based company’s first funding round since it was founded in 2013. More than 60,000 RV owners across the United States list their vehicles on the site. The company also offers roadside assistance and a rewards program.

In January, the company hired former HomeAway Chief Revenue Officer Jon Gray as its new CEO. RVshare also recently expanded from its 50-person office in Ohio to open a new office in Austin, Texas.

>>Moovit, a transportation data mobile app, raised a $50 million Series D round led by Intel Capital. This bring’s the company’s total funding to $131.5 million since it was founded in 2012. The app helps travelers navigate mass transit systems using data crowdsourced from users.

Moovit also lets local governments license its data that includes tools that help policymakers better understand how to manage their transit systems, plan construction projects, and analyze how people and vehicles move around their city. The company has more than 120 million users worldwide and is available in more than 2,000 cities and 80 countries.
