Trip sharing startups usually have a difficult time attracting and retaining users as well as turning user-generated content into a viable product.

Tripoto, a platform where users can share or search for complete travel itineraries with text, photos, maps, and reviews, today announced a $400,000 fundraising round.

The round was led by Outbox Ventures with participation from Palaash Ventures and six angel investors also participated in the round.

The India-based community startup has already released an Android app and has an iOS app in the works. It launched just over a year ago in September 2013 and claims to have approximately 300,000 monthly unique visitors. According to the Google Analytics-qualified numbers on Similarweb, it had just 270,000 visits total last month.

“We intend to use the funds to build a quality driven content team and consolidate technology for a seamless customer experience,” says co-founder Anirudh Gupta regarding how the startup plans to use the money.
