Skift Take
With airlines running at close to record load factors, any promo that involves free tickets these days is almost guaranteed to be fake.
Thousands of people have been duped by a fake online campaign that promised free Emirates flights to Dubai. The hoax promotion, launched on Instagram said that the first 20,000 users to follow the account would receive two free tickets to Dubai. However, Emirates have said it has nothing to do with the promotion.
“Emirates Airline does not have an official Instagram account,” said a spokesman.
The scam reads: “Hello All. Our first 20,000 followers who share our page and tag & mention #EmiratesPromotion will receive two tickets in our economy class to Dubai.”
