We love the idea of a JetBlue and Virgin America merger, but loving the notion does not make it any more likely. Assuming that anyone will one day buy Virgin America, we believe it will be Delta. Go on, though, JetBlue. We would be delighted to be wrong.

The thousands of screens on aircraft, either built-in or brought onboard, offer advertisers and brand partners many ways to reach consumers. With connectivity and advanced IFE systems gathering user data, the skies offer limitless possibilities for targeted campaigns and direct sales.

It appears as though Virgin America might beat Southwest in being the first of the two to fly to sunny Honolulu as both airlines look to expand beyond the lower 48. Southwest already has 10 international routes to seven countries but doesn't yet fly to Hawaii.

Airlines' huge followings are the source of monumental moves in social interactions and acquisitions.

Virgin America has already taken advantage of consolidation among the US majors by focusing on major markets, and that means more share of corporate travelers, but it will have tough going against bigger pockets.
