Webjet has really transformed its business over the past few years through a couple of sizable acquisitions. The Australian consumer market is proving pretty tough, so pursuing a strategy of global expansion in the wholesale arena makes sense.

Hotel groups are constantly developing new digital initiatives to improve the experiences of their hotel guests. Accor believes that the experiences of the hotel owners they work with are just as important.

Although Hotelbeds still sells ancillaries, its main focus is on accommodations and the rebrand makes that clear.

After two blockbuster deals, change was to be expected. If travel agents end up getting more choice and better technology, they won't have much to get upset about.

Did Hotels.com co-founders Bob Diener and Dave Litman do it again with Getaroom? Certainly not on the same scale, but Court Square's acquisition of Getaroom looks like a winner for the duo, who self-funded their latest venture in travel.

Business-to-business platforms are largely invisible to the traveling public but they have a big role to play behind the scenes. Hotelbeds Group sees an opportunity to consolidate within the sector.
