In the latest episode of the Event Manager Podcast we are joined by the co-founder and Chief Product / Innovation Officer of MeetingPlay + Aventri to discuss the importance of being able to embrace change and pivot.

Established event players MeetingPlay and Aventri will merge, helped by an undisclosed investment from two private equity firms, the companies announced Thursday. The deal marks the latest in a wave of consolidation driven by the demand for hybrid and virtual event capabilities.

As event tech companies look to streamline their platforms, some will look outside the event sector for leaders to help lead the process.

New leadership comes to Aventri as it continues to battle rival Cvent in the event tech marketplace. Perhaps a view from outside the sector can pay dividends as the tech provider works to further refine its platform.

Events are held for a reason: Companies know that face-to-face interactions and in-person experiences are vital for business. The only problem is that those things are notoriously hard to measure.

The future looks good for meetings and events. That was the vibe coming out of IMEX America in Las Vegas last week, even as some planners worry about trade tensions and a looming economic downturn.

Ask nearly any event organizer about attendee engagement, and they'll say it's a top priority. Despite this, most have not invested in the right technology to track and analyze attendee behavior.

If you can't first measure engagement, then it's hard to improve it. Digital tracking devices are a good investment for planners and something to add to their toolbox, along with mobile apps and surveys.
