Indian Hotels Company’s Boutique Acquisition: Brij Hospitality’s Next Move

IHCL is acquiring smaller chains to make the most of the hospitality boom in India. But it does not seem interested in overhauling how these chains actually operate as long as their models work.

Taj-parent Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) is bringing Brij Hospitality into its fold, taking a majority stake in the boutique hotel chain as part of its broader push into smaller, leisure-focused markets.

Earlier this month, IHCL said that it would be acquiring a 51% controlling stake in Brij Hospitality.

The development comes after IHCL acquired Brij Hospitality’s sister concerns ANK Hotels and Pride Hospitality last August. At that time, IHCL also signed a marketing and distribution agreement with Brij Hospitality. 

Brij Co-Founder Udit Kumar told Skift that he is hopeful that the acquisition will be completed within the next 30 days.
