The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain will run the first trial of a “one-stop” travel system this December, signaling a major shift in how people may soon move around the Gulf. For now, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has limited it to air travel between the two countries. But if it works, it could eventually apply across all six council states and lay the groundwork for the region’s long-planned Schengen-style unified tourist visa.
