Shares of the local search and reviews company Yelp have fallen about 7% since Facebook announced its new search tool Tuesday. The threat of Google though, is tough to overstate..Google Maps was downloaded by over 10 million iPhone users in just the first two days in Dec.

Yelp may want to sell itself quickly. The tricky part could be scaring up a buyer...

For all Yelp's valuable data, it has been unable to generate an operating profit...None may be inclined to pay the steep price Yelp currently commands. Apple..already licenses Yelp's data for its maps app and for Siri...Yahoo has shown discipline since Marissa Mayer took the helm...Amazon tends to be methodical as well..Microsoft could be a possibility—it needs to catch up in mobile and has been known to get carried away, for instance paying $8.6 billion for Skype.
