Scottish rail line ScotRail announces plans to roll out Wi-Fi on 59 trains in 2013

Skift Take

Business travelers are coming to expect Wi-Fi on all transportation providers, but during the roll-out stage on both trains and planes it’s still a guessing game whether you’ll be able to connect.

If you’re living in Scotland you might be interested to learn that ScotRail has announced their plans to deploy free Wi-Fi on all 59 of ScotRail’s “class 170” trains…

This isn’t completely news as four class 170 trains have already been fitted with Wi-Fi a few months ago as a trial, but we guess the concept was welcomed by passengers which could explain their plans to roll out free WiFi en masse.

This sounds like a pretty good idea, especially for passengers who experience the frustration when travelling underground that cellphone reception, let alone data coverage, is less than stellar.
