Clear Channel’s Flysmart app gives airport shops the gift of targeted advertising

Skift Take

Since its airport ad rival already formed a key partnership with GateGuru, Flysmart should set its sights on a high-caliber parter that puts passengers before advertisers to achieve at least a minimal balance between advertiser and consumer needs.

Clear Channel Airports is eager to seize the possibilities afforded by the mobile device revolution. It’s heavily promoting its free FlySmart app, a tool for navigating airports that’s available for Apple and Android devices. Currently, 102 airports worldwide are searchable through the app, with that number growing at fast rate.

FlySmart aims to differentiate itself from other apps on the market by giving airport shops much more direct control for targeted advertising. A passenger sitting at a gate in terminal 2 of an airport will be served ads relevant to that location, such as a nearby concession.
