Philippines create contest to boost cultural and historic awareness

The Department of Tourism's contest calls for custom tour itineraries and posters in hopes that citizens will be inspired to travel domestically and visit the historic sites.
History, it’s more fun in the Philippines
And in a bid to make this fun history more accessible to the public, the Department of Tourism launched Tuesday its first ever tour itinerary and poster making contest entitled Icons of Greatness.
The competition was unveiled a day after National Hero’s day, and capitalizes on the abundance of cultural and historic sites in the Philippines. And also, not incidentally, August is History Month.
