5 New Travel Startups Making Business Travel Stress-Free

Skift Take

Slowly but surely, the various business travel processes are being dissected and improved so that sending an employee on a trip makes more sense. This is done in an age when some would argue that technology makes that more unjustified.

The biggest mistake a travel brand can make is assume that business travelers and leisure travelers are always different kinds of people.

Sure, many are distinct and defined. But there's also plenty of overlap, where a business traveler often exclusively wears the leisure traveler hat during a trip. This week's five startups have goals of making tedious business travel processes less burdensome and more intelligent so that business travel actually accomplishes things for companies.

>>AirPad vets short-term rental properties for business travelers.

SkiftTake: As short-term rental platforms like Airbnb become more accepted by the global business travel community, services like AirPad will be more important to make sure business travelers get the quality they deserve and require.

>>WeeklyHotels finds travelers the best hotel rates and has search filters for finding extended stay type properties that are ideal for some business travelers. Travelers can also compare hotels side-by-side for price and amenities.

SkiftTake: Business trips vary in length and business travelers need a tool they can turn to for finding the best rates for stays both short and long.

>>AlexFinds is an artificial intelligence mobile app that's a concierge for travelers. It books hotel rooms based on the best deals from travelers requests' received through email, SMS, Twitter or Slack.

SkiftTake: Here we go again. Another messaging platform, right? While AlexFinds has many of the same services that existing messaging platforms have, its unique quality is that it pays travelers to use it in the form of airline miles or other points.

>>Beewake lets business travelers book daytime meeting space in hotel rooms, co-working spaces or other office spaces for short periods of time.

SkiftTake: Beewake recognizes that there isn't one ideal kind of space for a business meeting and seeks to provide business travelers with an array of options.

>>AroundAbout helps travelers find the best food and restaurants in their vicinities.

SkiftTake: This is really for the more spontaneous traveler who's not interested in reading TripAdvisor or Yelp reviews. They just want to find a good place to eat on the go. Business travelers have busy schedules and the last thing they want to worry about is where they're eating dinner.
