Goa hopes the rupee's falling value will boost tourism from Europe

It’s ironic that the misfortunes of a devaluing currency could actually improve the economy of this beach region as tourists are more likely to book when they feel like they’re getting a good bang for their buck.

Though the rupee falling against the dollar is causing great concern to the country’s economists, it is being seen as a silver lining by tourism experts in Goa who expect more influx of European tourists during the forthcoming season.

The tourist season in Goa this time, beginning from October, is expected to be better as “the value of rupee is falling,” Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) President Fracisco de Braganca said.
