9 Unexpected Destinations for Travelers Looking to Relax According to Taschen

Skift Take

The breadth of destinations and type of accommodations featured in this book makes it a treat in comparison to the staid and unoriginal lists released by traditional travel magazines each year.

The allure of large glossy travel photos has faded as more travelers turn to social media to inspire their wanderlust.

But photography remains one of most important elements to picking a destination or hotel no matter the medium.

German art book publisher Taschen is releasing a book this March with 100 of the world's most beautiful and relaxing getaways. The accommodations included in the two-volume collection, 100 Getaways Around the World, range from small inns to luxury resorts.

A few of the unique properties featured are hillside cottages on the small Caribbean island of Nevis, a resort isolated in a Utah valley, and cabins that overlook a Mexican winery.

There are also safari camps in the Botswana savanna and houses for hermits on a small Swedish island.

The hotels were selected based on their style, location, and experience based on price.

We received a sneak peek at the hotels included in the book and included images for 9 of the mouth watering properties above.
