JetBlue Pushes Deeper Into Fort Lauderdale, Shrinks in Newark and LaGuardia

JetBlue is shrinking in the New York area as it focuses more on Fort Lauderdale, where executives see greater opportunity following Spirit’s collapse.
JetBlue is expanding transcontinental flying out of Fort Lauderdale, adding more daily business class service to San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
The premium expansion is part of the carrier’s efforts to turn Fort Lauderdale into a third base following Spirit’s collapse. JetBlue has added dozens of new routes out of the Florida city, with many overlapping with Spirit’s former routes.
The carrier is also ending seasonal service of its routes between Newark and Los Angeles and Las Vegas to accommodate the growth out of Fort Lauderdale, it confirmed in a statement to Skift.
