The future of packaged tours in a socially distanced world will be key to exploring as the travel industry recovery starts.
What is the future of packaged tours in a post-Covid-19 world? That is a big question that a battered tour operator industry will be thinking through in coming months and possibly years to come. Group travel, which is what majority of packaged travel is comprised of, will have challenges in a socially-distanced and hygiene-hyperaware world of travelers, if and when they are ready. Will packaged travel make a come back as people want more self-contained holidays?
On my weekly livestream Q&A show The Long View, we will take on the long view on packaged tour operator sector.
To discuss this, the guest this week is Christine Petersen, the president and CEO of smarTours, a leading U.S.-based mass market tour operator offering escorted tours to destinations around the world.
Prior to this role, she served as CEO of Time Out Digital, the media arm of the Time Out Group. She previously spent nearly a decade with Tripadvisor; serving as president of TripAdvisor for business and as chief marketing officer.
