As ecommerce travel bookings continue to grow in popularity across the globe, some parts of the world are embracing technology faster than others — most notably Asia. A report conducted by Worldpay, a leader in the online payment services industry, revealed India is on its way to surpassing the U.S. in becoming an ecommerce superpower by 2034.

The report also revealed that consumers have been surprisingly slow to embrace mobile payments, citing merchants’ hesitation with investing in mobile-payment capable equipment and many consumers’ inability to afford the most current, technologically-advanced phones. Meanwhile, pre-paid card payments are expected to grow globally — at a rate of three times in Latin America and nearly double in North America by 2020.

The global payments landscape is constantly evolving, and travel providers that fail to keep up risk alienating their consumers. With more than 300 payment options offered around the globe, it can be difficult to stay on top of trends. Take a look at Wordpay’s 2016 Global Payments Report to get a deeper understanding of the changing dynamics of online payments.
