Skift Take

Top10.com fits into the travel industry curation trend as its recommendations are geared to help people looking for a room combat information overload. It's a crowded space, though, with an over-abundance of hotel search and booking sites to compete with.

London-based Top10.com, a metasearch site that offers hotel recommendations, closed a Series B funding round for $8 million, with Balderton Capital leading the round.

Top10 says it creates “hotel shortlists” by analyzing review scores, location data and price and take into account pricing and availablility from major booking sites such as Booking.com, Expedia and LateRooms.

With $12.4 million in total funding raised to date, Top10 plans to use the additional funding to expand its team of 14 with engineering personnel, and to expand further into Europe.

Other participants in the Series B round include Accel Partners, Forward Partners and Idealab.
