New Google Maps app got 10 million downloads in 48 hours

That's according to Jeff Huber, the SVP of local and commerce at Google, on his Google+ page. And the new maps app for iPhone is also getting rave reviews from all the usual tech review circles including Mossberg and Pogue, and us as well, though some reality is setting in now on the limitations of being on the platform a company that considers you as its biggest competitor.

Huber: "We're excited for the positive reception of Google Maps for iPhone around the world. Congratulations to the Maps Team on the recognition for the passion and hard work they poured into it, for this release and over the last 7+ years."
