Brand USA appoints former CEO of VisitFlorida as new CEO

Skift Take

BrandUSA has hyped itself a bit too much since it was launched, and has gone though its share of management troubles. Now it needs to keep its head down and deliver.

BrandUSA, the tourism brand marketing body for United States, now has a permanent CEO, ending its management-in-limbo state since summer: Christopher L. Thompson is president and CEO of the public private partnership agency.

Prior to this, Thompson led the state of Florida’s destination marketing efforts as president and CEO of VISIT FLORIDA.  He will succeed Caroline Beteta, who has been interim president of the organization since June 21, 2012, in addition to her role as president and CEO of Visit California and her role on the Brand USA board of directors.

No official start date has been set yet but Chris is transitioning in.
