SkiftAds: Kayak's new commercial fails to charm either the ladies or the gentlemen

Skift Take

Kayak's advertising agency obviously knows more about commercials than we do. In 2010 a Kayak spot featured sexy Mandy cavorting on a pier while the latest ad features a crooner who's way past his prime. See one and done.

Kayak's latest head-scratcher of a commercial targets washed-up crooners who can't charm hotel "vixens" into room deals and perks anymore.

The Negotiator (aka William Shatner), where are you when you are needed?

Apart from yesteryear's crooning, the Kayak commercial sneaks in its new pitch that there actually is lots of price differentiation in hotel rates these days, as Kayak advises: "You can save 25% or more on the same hotel."

And, in other developments, Kayak last month launched a site in Brazil and a beta site in Russia. It also has new sites in Portugal and Poland.

We doubt the crooner will play well in those far-flung countries.
